Makes your speedo wonky. 6 rib revs are perfect for my engine. 70mph is bang on peak power, 35 in 4th is peak torque. Standard tyres look better too.

What wheel size were you running? if it's 14" whats the max size tyre I can go to. 205r 14c van tyres instead of the standard 185r 14c van tyres on standard steel 14's or 205/70/15's on the 15 alloys I had So will a 205 14 fit ok inside the arch? I'd love the big tyre look. Also, would it affect the speedometer?

Tesco, 6 mile round trip, normally jumps out of gear so it's a good first test. It stayed in gear! I'm not counting my chickens yet, I didn't floor it, it's not nice if it jumps out with your foot on the floor. Next time I'll push a little harder and it'll no doubt jump out again but I'm not in the mood to find out today, the sun is shining and I have a bit of boat to paint instead. Gears are nice and tight with the new bit at the front.

I've been out again and it stayed in gear with a bit more Welly. I've lost faith though, waiting for it to jump out is el crappo so I'd still like yours when the time comes. If the experience has taught me anything it's stash a spare box somewhere.

I wouldn't mind having I'd suggest a spare gearbox, fully reconditioned type 4 engine, a front beam, all suspension and brake components and you should also have a full set of new tyres.

How is the gearbox doing now Steve? Bust. After 15 miles or so behaving it jumped out again while I was pottering along at 50mph. I've covered everything with the linkage, it would be doh! moment to fit a different box and find it did the same due to a £5 piece of plastic or similar.

Yeah that would be a nightmare, have you spoken to bears or cog box to see if they have any ideas on possible causes?
