No definite buyers yet but also no definite timeframe for fitting my Scooby stuff either. Well hurry up and if the price is right I'll have it.

Potentially could be may June time That might be ok actually. I can drive around with my hand on my knob ( ) for a while though that will likely speed up the decline. Could you PM me the asking price?

So, what's actually wrong with he box Steve? wear and tear looseness? or something else. The nosecone has a casting inside to hold a bearing in place. Could be I fitted a knacked nosecone that's allowed bearing and shaft to move enough to cause 4th jumping out. Could be same bearing race disintegrated. Could be forks are worn. Could be the humongous torque has contributed.

I love a straw to clutch.
Front donut type shift rod bush was lying in what looks like new pieces in the belly pan.
I know from experience that the ones for sale don't fit - almost as sloppy as not having one. I expect I bodged one from something that hasn't lasted.
Anyone found a way to sort this out?

Well BUSOK say theirs are 'Original Quality' and I'd be more inclined to trust them than a lot of other suppliers.

Well BUSOK say theirs are 'Original Quality' and I'd be more inclined to trust them than a lot of other suppliers. They all say that. Problem in my experience is they are a good fit for the rod, but mm's loose in the hole. Maybe I've been fitting them to worn holes but I don't think so. I think some kind of nylon bulkhead pipe fitting might be available but I'll need the front shift rod off to measure up.

If anyone have a gear linkage repair kit and a vernier, it the one that looks like a grommet. Hole through is 22mm, to fit hole 26mm on the van. My guess is the available ones are made to fit a 24mm hole so not only sloppy but 1/2 the material to wear through.

Flippin bloomin heck. Spent ages carving one from a bit of old window winder, ages wrestling it into place then it snapped when I was fitting the shift rod.
Time for a large whisky.

That was very mild language, are there mods on this forum now?

That was very mild language, are there mods on this forum now? Not worth swearing about? It was something to try. I've got another one to hack but I'll order a proper one an see is there's a way to tighten up the fitting. Then it'll no doubt continue to jump out of gear but at least I'll have tried all the easy things I can think of...or have I?

Someone on the samba made a square piece of nylon with a round hole in the middle and bolted it on to the metal where the front donut normally goes So, so difficult to get in there and drill holes I wonder how that was possible! (The same idea had occurred to me). As it's bank holiday I've been farting about but tomorrow I'll order one just to see if it makes any difference. Previously I've had the nose cone off, shimmed play out of the slidy bit with washers and in the back of mind I have a vision of the selector thing barely catching one of the rods. That thought keeps me going at the selector, it feels like it's not quite in gear and when it jumps out the stick seems to jump sideways rather than forwards... But who am I kidding? The box is fucked. I know it, you know it, everyone knows it! Did you miss me asking you to pm me a price for your gearbox?
