Only got early buses in the workshop at the moment, so these pics are a 3 rib on a early.. in 4th the coupling is 18mm from the lip of the top hat, in 3rd it's 38mm. Let me know if you want any other pics.

Mine's definitely at least 10mm further forward for some reason, I'm fairly sure that top hat is in the same place. 74 bus with a deep bell housing? It need crow barring into the early as well. 20mm movement, excellent, hopefully it's the same for all boxes. I'll nip out and measure mine shortly.

Hmm, it does look like yours needs to go back a bit.. I wonder if there are different nose cones for deep and narrow bell housings... although that wouldn't effect the length of the selector shaft.. maybe there are 2 lengths of shaft... still, if it has been OK up to now then it should still work.. ignore me while I think out loud very slowly lol

It was fine, then after some heaving and kicking on the exhaust system (one hx and back box off and on) firstly the gear lever buzzed on the way home, then it developed a knock when I took up drive, then it started jumping out of 4th gear too. One front clamp bolt was loose, one prong moving a few mm. The whole lot is too far forward. Got to be connected!

19-20mm. Rear hangers were already back as far as they go. Put front back together with extra crowbarrage and got 2-3 mm clearance but the selector shaft doesn't appear to move any further. Do or die, I'll test drive next time I go to Tesco.

It's the box. Sort of knew it would be but it was worth trying with the linkage first.
Bugger, fuck, and shitbags.

Oh well it's just stuff. Now I need a plan that doesn't involve being off the road so I need a replacement to hand in case it's something that Rob and I can't fix easily.
Prefer a 6 rib which I could just keep and save swapping twice, but I suppose I could tootle about slowly on a 3 ribber and get the present one fixed.
What y'got?

What an arse. 😞
Got no boxes at all here. Pkrboo might have one for sale as he is doing a Scooby box for his bus, might be worth a message?

I've always found them very good.
I think that if you're a member of the earlybay forum you can get a discount as well of 5%
