Well everything has been replaced in my heating 'system' but it's still pretty disappointing to say the least.
I don't know whether I have unrealistic expectations so can you guys give me some sort of idea how long it takes for some warm air to get to the cab in this sort of weather in yours?
I realise that changing it for T4/5/6/x.. would solve this problem but I like my T2 and have a daily with a decent heater.

My bay heating was brilliant once I sorted it, I sleeved the centre pipe in a aluminium pipe and sealed all holes well, plus I had good genuine hx's

Thanks Ricky - yours was a T4 engined one wasn't it?
Sorry I should have said that mine's a 1600 lawnmower so I wonder whether the T4's had better heating - they had a booster fan didn't they?
I was as pleased as punch when I got hold of some NOS genuine VW heat exchangers - until I looked at the number of fins - they must have been for the Mexican or Brazilian markets! I've presently got some on that are supposed to be pretty good but they're not seeming like it at the moment.

Yeah mine was t4, didn't have the snail fan fitted tho, never got round to it! That only aided heating while ticking over or stopped anyway, once driving the engine fan pushes a load of air

I've got repro exchangers on mine and the heat in the cab is not that bad (when my van was running of course....) I made the effort to seal it all between the fan housing and the rear of the y piece, but from the y peice forward I hadn't done anything. With a bit more work I'm sure it would of been pretty good.

How are you doing with the van now? Have you got a way ahead yet?

For repair or are you selling it? Repair, a nice man is going to sort it all out. And good folk are worth travelling for. Sometimes it's better to just pay the price and get a job done. And trust me, that's something I very rarely do! I could of carried on myself but realistically I'd still be doing it in 6 months. I should be playing with my kids not rolling about in the gutter. And seriously I feel better already now that I'm not stressed/pissed about it. Gonna be motd too, and possibly some welding. Then I can go fetch it and drive home!

Brilliant!
There's some very good guys around here and the rates are reasonable.
I'm over near Cromer - let me know if I can help with anything.

I haven't used him myself, I use someone nearer to home, but he's got a very good reputation.

Let me guess...where you minding your own business, enjoying a day out in your bus, when an old codger came over and starting boring you with stories about how his son restores campers He's good at doing that...
