I think zed is referencing the newbies over there, case in point the "headlight" post. If there's so much thought over a light that one's ripe for ripping off when the points close up... I did smile at the headlight post earlier and realised there are people with much less 'fix it up' knowledge and ability.

Just seen this. I'll go against the flow here - she at least seems to be willing to try and fix it if it's reasonably easy which is more than the people Zed is talking about. She's joined a forum and asked for ,free, advice from experts rather than just flash the cash. We all have to start somewhere and the saying "there's no such thing as a stupid question" is as relevant to fixing buses as it is to life. To me it's a sensible approach as if you do have to take it to a garage you have a lot more info so less chance of being 'ripped off'. End of rant.

Garage replaced bulb and headlight fell off after. Answer:take back to garage?
My neighbour once wasted an hour of my time when her electric lawnmower wouldn't work. It was only after the hour she said "It's so annoying, It was serviced yesterday by (expensive shop) and hasn't worked since."

Yes - unless you've lost faith in them in which case you might want to try and fix it yourself.

Yes - unless you've lost faith in them in which case you might want to try and fix it yourself. I'm betting it's a single screw type with a newish chrome surround. They don't hook on very well particularly after a few coats of paint on the front panel. Bodgery required. I expect the garage ran out of patience and as soon as it clung on a bit abandoned doing it properly, twas just an mot repair. I speak from experience.

I didn't think there was much to a headlight ... the difference to owning a MK1 Cortina for your first car against something considerably more modern. Interesting that if a garage ran out of patience on something so simple what would they be like when something more complex was required.

Good point - what about some of the modern cars where you've got to remove the bumper and other bits just to change a headlamp bulb?

Many s time a headlight has fallen out as soon as I touched it and refused to fit back on properly, because it never was and can't be without bending things, digging paint out etc. It's surprisingly common.

Oh dear, I appear to have made my bus very fast!! The T25 back box I had put on as a temp measure seems to have been restricting the bus some what. Felt a bit sluggish in pickup but if accelerating slowly it would be fine. Saw a stainless boy racer stylee backbox at skeg Vegas and in the Sunday asked the guy if he still had it as he was packing up. He did, so I bought it for a tenner and fitted it last night. Been for a few test runs tonight and it's soooo much faster. Much louder under acceleration but still fairly quiet on tick over and cruising. It will do for now until I sort out a permanent exhaust. Yeah - why change it?
It looks good and works well - unless you spend a shedload of money you'll just make it worse.
