Mate I have a voltage regulator I can send you. The one I have has an earth lug in it which is warted when it is screwed to the firewall. I had warts once, they were a bugger to get rid of. Cheers Matt, It may come in handy if I bugger up the new one. How much do you want for it?

Did you take the regulator off the firewall? It needs to be earthed through a screw to work properly Mine's same as Sandybay's, made of plastic, no earthing body and works fine.

Original was a metal bodied one.

Mine has certainly not hot the brass eyes or connecting strip. It does all work though!

I'd check the wiring diagrams but vintage bus had disappeared last time I looked.

Just what I paid, £10 plus post Blimey, that's half what I've just paid. I should've been more patient. Local place came up trump's when I was looking for one, all I found is that the "on" voltage for the transistor was a little low at idle so the light stayed on, once I blipped the throttle it would go off and stay off.

Ahhh! trying to recoup some of the cash you've laid out by suckering a poor innocent forum member into buying hooky stuff. Shame on you.

I'd check the wiring diagrams but vintage bus had disappeared last time I looked. But not today, it's back. There is a voltage regulator ground connection shown on random 71, 74 and a 76 I looked at. But there's no way of grounding anything on mine. What does this mean electrical people?

Ok, update time as the voltage regulator turned up today so I fitted it and started the engine. the ign light is on with just ign, off when the engines running at idle and on when there's some revs going. I just noticed though that the light pulses rhythmically when it's on rather than on steady. I'll go and take a few pics and see if anyone has any good ideas.
