Engine swap effectively but adding water-cooling rad etc. Depends how handy you are also how much time you have, I'd be better off doing my proper job and paying someone. Yes that true. I am hoping to have 2 weeks solid to get it done in a oner

Pickles, if you are handy on the spanners it's not a difficult job, especially if you buy the rad pack and all the bits from Rjes. I paid a garage to do mine as I didn't have the time, space or skills 😀 As for gearbox I know people have used their 3 rib, it will cope but is a bit revvy in 4th. I have a 5 rib box in mine with a longer heavy duty 4th making it on par with a 6rib. Personally if I did it again and didn't go scooby box, I would get a longer 3rd and 4th(4th longer than what I have).

Nice one Matt, have you negotiated a subarugears with the Mrs yet? Gone a bit quiet on that front. There is a guy not far from me called nick tune who has sets in stock and the subanose and mounts so a one stop shop for the lot. Hoping to go and pick it up when I back in the uk But if you buy the kit from Nick you still need to get a gear box place to swap it out, got anyone in mind for that?

I'm going to do the Subaru gearbox swap. Pretty easy to do after watching the video

Its interesting Mick on the other site said that the difference between the 1700 and 1800 boxes is 2% so if you were doing 3000 rpm on the 1700 GB then it would be only 2,940 on the 1800 GB. I see that the 2.0 litre has better longer ratios though would those be the 6 rib?

Yeah like Woody said if your vans not lowered chuck big tyres on the back. I have standard steels and tyres but I'm lowered so don't think I could go much bigger. As for the gear box a 6 rib is a 2.0 box, I thought a 1700 and 1800 both had the five rib but I might be wrong.
