These pictures bring back memories.
Mine was coated in thick underseal and when it was blasted there was far more daylight than metal.
It's probably about half a ton lighter now it doesn't have it on and all the repair plates welded on top of each other have been replaced by proper panels.

(crosses fingers) If it didn't need much 10 years ago all those bits now chopped out would have been left. No point hacking out a floor if it's just a bit of surface rust. Etc. A mate of mine has had his for 35 years and had it restored 3 times.

keeping them outside and using all year round doesn't help. Dunno really. Had my pans off 1st time since i've had the beastie (7 or 8 years) and very little to see really certainly no rot. The only thing that needs replacing is the n/s front arch/step. He lives outside in all weathers, no cover but I don't drive in the salty road conditions. Must say though the pans are home made and seal very well.

I think Zed hit the nail on the head, van was kept outside and used all year round, there is no point owing a van and not using it. Ive just been sent this pic from the body shop.

It won't be cheap but at least you can see it isn't being bodged.
Loads of waxoyl, dynawax or whatever should help keep it in good condition.

You couldn't get that sloped panel between the rear wheel tubs when I were a lad. How I wished it had been available. Chassis looks solid. 👍

Nasty. Do you have genuine front arches this time round or are they unavailable now?
