Looking at new beams, do none of them come with torsion bars fitted? Are they all much the same?

I don't think any of them have the torsion leaves in Jez. I always use FBI VW for an imported original beams. Never had a rough one from them 👍

Doesn't matter if it's a lefty beam for a righty van does it?

Fink £375 rings a bell. Can't remember if that includes postage or not though. The only bits you need to change for rhd are the steering damper bracket, and servo mount if you have a servo.

If it's of any interest I've got one that you can have for a donation to Cancer UK. It's had a bit of welding done but I think is OK - any advice would be appreciated postimg.org/gallery/2llor8en2/

Whereabouts are you Chad and how much of a donation would you like? I'm also going to see if i can patch up mine again but its getting silly and I think it may be time to replace....

I'm in North Norfolk so quite a way from you.
The donation amount is entirely up to you - I know that having kids is expensive.

If it’ll help, I’m in Cambridge and could carry it to spring camp or TE.

thanks for the offers chad and sANDYbAY had a proper poke of mine, its the horn type thing with the rubber bump stops on, its pretty much coming off , and also the sticky out bit above it - is that a trailing arm?? - where that joins the end plate, is not as bad as the horn , but about a 1/4 of the circumference of it is a hole. i probably could bodge it up and it may or may not pass the mot but even i (with my lax attitude to safety) think now its getting daft and slightly dodgy....the time would be better spent replacing it. dont know whether its best to get a second hand one or a new one......any wise advice? i can see the pros and cons of both

Sorry I don't know enough to advise on this.
I'll leave it to Zed and the Pope.

If you are not lowering it, I would defo go with a rust free original. They have the correct roller bearings in, everything fits properly, and will live longer than we will if it's got paint on the outside, and grease on the inside.. 👍 Basically, you know it will fit without fecking about.

My advice is that you shouldn’t be under your van poking your nose into things which don’t concern you. If you’d resisted the urge to start creeping around underneath things then your beam would still be perfectly ok.

So if I get a second hand rust free jobby, is it wise to replace needle bearings and steering pin and whatever else, or leave as is unless they appear really worn?

And..... Just saw something about a good discount at jk this weekend so had another looksee At their new beams, but noticed they don't appear to have the arm thing with the bump stops on? That can't be right can it?
