I know, i know, it's all expensive but had some discussions at work with a chap that has vr6 golf and has had other VW'S and swears by putting in that higher octane unleaded so I tried it yesterday in my T2 and it make a marked difference in the engine seemly more responsive and better on take off. I know it's £1.32 a litre but is it worth it? Anyone else put this hopped up jungle juice in their A/C engine? and why is it (in tech terms) any better than common garden unleaded.

I'm unsure of the properties but I believe it helps clear the engine. When I've used it petrol or diesel uptake seems better, I've not noticed an increase in mpg's but it's sold as improving them.
Some say use supermarket fuel and then every so often the good stuff.
When I was in France I only used 98 though towards the end of the holiday I did wonder what the point was as it's coming out anyway.

I'm sure it runs better on premium but they were made for 2* fuel. Extensive research on my part proves I get more diesel mpg on a named brand like shell or gulf over co-op or tesco. I've never used the expensive premium diesel though but I know lads on the T5 forum say they get better performance

I tried the premium Diesel a few times in my T4 and could feel the difference and got better mpg, it's just too expensive thou. I tried it last week in the Yeti coz I was towing and could feel it also, I'm not sure older aircooled engines would feel any difference, I think the computers in modern vehicles change settings and shit when it's in.
