Stick a starter relay on it sandybay, piss cheap and works. 👍 Obviously I understand exactly what you mean, and how to do it. That's a given as I'm a highly trained and skilled aeronautical engineer. But, just in case there's some really thick people (we'll call them the hard of thinking) reading your reply it might make it clearer if you explained your answer in more detail, lots of detail, with pictures, simple pictures.

Lol, sorry, I assumed everyone was as mechanical as yourself.... Buy this... www.justkampers.com/17-2917-0-12-volt-hard-start-relay-kit.htmlFit it near the starter.. cable tieing it to the starter solenoid will do. Then wire it up like this... www.google.co.uk/search?q=vw+hot+start+relay+wiring+diagram&oq=vw+hot+start+relay+wi&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j33.15210j0j4&client=ms-android-orange-gb&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#imgrc=p4oGcpA_g9mzHM:Basically, when fitted, starter current only travels the short distance from battery to starter, instead of traveling the length of the bus twice, and through several 40 year old connections. Fixes 99.9 % of click of doom problems. No doubt someone will be along to point out your not really fixing the root problem, and they may have a point, but it's cheap and it works. 👍 Obviously you knew that, but it may help the hard of thinking... 😉

(I actually wanted a thumbs up emoticon but obviously this forum is at the cheaper end of the range).
