Does the rust just sit on the surface then?

Does the rust just sit on the surface then? It only works on surface rust, nothing can sort out proper rust pitting other than rechroming.

Does the rust just sit on the surface then? Most of it yes. Chrome is porous and needs brass (?) plating first if it's going to last more than 24 hours. Or something like that. And what sAndYbAy said. I'm going to try waxiing them this time. I thought they were ok hubcaps but obviously not.

Coca Cola full fat. Trust me. But it's really quick with dry wire wool and no mess apart from rust dust. One small bit did all 4.

A lot of the bad corrosion on those hubcaps comes from the inside. I always slap loads of whatever gloss paint I have to hand on the inside on them when they're new.
They still corrode, just slightly slower. Just crap (cheap) chrome on everything nowadays.

I greased them on the inside too and they're as good as new on that side!. I think mainly they're old, the chrome between the pits is good and hopefully the wax will seal the pits a bit.
