Not trying to tell you how to suck eggs, but did you put anything in the paint to cover the bumpers? I was told by the chap I use that covering old contaminated plastic never lasts well, plenty of sanding and filling and flexible additive needed?

Are you turning it into a camper or is it a work van?

I scuffed them up, filled the worst of the scrapes, then etch primed them, then 2K primer and paint. Time will tell if it lasts I guess... 😊

Are you turning it into a camper or is it a work van? I'm not bothering with a camping interior for now, it's just got a row of removable caravelle seats in the back. It's going to be half work van, half people carrier if you will.. I might change my mind at any moment though!

That looks a whole lot better. If you like that sort of thing. You're allowed to cut everyone up now, ask TW. Its not fast enough to cut anyone up lol.... I think it will be getting a Golf engine before long How about a 225hp TT engine, just 4 bolts is what I've heard

It's just a phase through life innit, I had one inbetween having my Early and Late bay, I love reading posts in other places from people who have just bought a bus or only had one a few years saying they'll "never sell it" or T4's and T5's are "rubbish builders vans" or " Scooby " is the way forward, 99% of those posters know has much about Vw buses and camping in them has my new Puppy. In 2 or 3 years time like 2 or 3 years ago it'll be new names who nobody knows saying the exact same thing, Take it from me, do what yer want coz non of it means anything. I've got to say that is probably the most sense I've heard you spout fella... The future is today, tomorrow isn't promised! So do what you wanna do & if anyone says different tell em to do one is my view...

Nah, I love my golf too much to nick it's engine lol... The t4 engine is a massive 68 HP, so a golf engine wouldn't be too disappointing.. the 1z engine is the common conversion apparently. Can you believe that Vw thought 68 HP was acceptable in a van in 2001? 2.0 type 4 lumps where more than that weren't they? 😂

That's my story anyway, I have 100hp but it pulls like a train. Maybe the 68hp engine is a torquey engine, not a revvy one?

It does pull better than you would imagine, but don't think it will pull a trailer with a car on the back very well... il give it a go and see how it fairs.
