Had a standard Ernst on my late bay, sounded great. Got the same on this bus (early) but it sounds quite different. I'm presuming it's down to TP vs SP. Any ideas on a make that will sound a bit more grunty? Cheers

I had the jk stainless system on my old tp engine. Sounded throaty but tbh was a pain at cruising speed. Now on the scooby the exhaust is mega throaty when I boot it but purrs when cruising 😀

Bigger tailpipe, better still a conical one. I has a pair on 1200 beetle it sounded like a thudding monster at low revs but quiet at cruising speed.
I also had monster tailpipes on a beetle exhaust on my 2020 t1 engine that were so deep at low revs it regularly set car alarms off.
So, I reckon the tone is all in the tailpipe, the long thin standard one is there there to be quiet so doing the opposite is the direction to head.

I have stainless steel twin box big bore on a 1.6 aircooled and they sound ace, regularly set car alarms off and when gunning it up a side street sounds like it is ripping the fabric of the air! I do need the full force of my 750 W amp to here the radio though at 65 😳

In the old days we used to take the baffles out of our moped exhausts, that sounded faster
