OK, so this has only happened a couple of times but it's prompted me to ask on here as both times I've had to call the AA. Starts and drives ok then fuel filter empties and none will come through so van cuts out. Then, fuel filter mysteriously fills with fuel and off we go !! 1st time called AA he came out and said it was a stuck float so he pulled rubber pipe off and then fuel flowed. 2nd time in Aldi car park, cut out, empty fuel, call AA, I wait so long, the filter fills again. Set up is tank to pump, pump to carb via filter. Could it be a sticky fuel pump? and if so what's the remedy? (I know, I know, drive it more)

Is it an engine driven pump? I'd fit a one way valve in the fuel line

Is it leaking back or just not flowing? Basically you know the problem really your pump is the culprit be it mechanical or electrical, fit new or clean it.

How I clean it? blast carb cleaner through it maybe? Is the pump mechanical? Whip it off I guess it might be worn/gunged up? Mine was electrical and I know people have converted mechanical to electrical.

Don't know if it's leaking back. How I clean it? blast carb cleaner through it maybe? people have converted mechanical to electrical. Isn't that just because it is difficult to get a new mechanical pump?
