I had a good look today and it's all dry, no leaks. Yippee! That's been leaking a bit from new but took a lot of tracking down. Next job, wash it and then no more oil splatters up the back. Well done you might be able to do this for a living 😳

Glad you got it sorted. Mine has always had a small unidentified leak, since my engine was pulled it has become much worse and splats oil up the fan housing. Still drives well so I'm going to see how much it's losing over a 1000miles or so! Hope life is treating you well?

Not so bad thanks, I've had a lazy, lazy winter but summer's on it's way and I'm planning a week walking up and down Kinder to get fit again. It's a hard life. Oil up fan housing? Maybe (often is) connected to your case breather.

Zed, can you do me a favour and measure your fiamma awning length. I know that I have asked this before but i cant find the thread. In one thread you said yo u we're going to get a 3metre fiamma but later in you said you got a 2.5metre. only asking again now as i have found a couple on eBay but want to make sure I get the right length to make it worth it.

Without looking it's about 200mm short of the whole gutter length.

On the other hand it's great on the marina, by the time I was done, passing moorers had donated a bag of cable ties, a roll of blue paper towel, two pints of milk and 18 cans of Stella. Did they think you were a drunken beggar who'd lost his way?

...So I did take it apart and does seem like replacing the two o-rings would sort it out. It's only lasted 10,000 miles or so but that's life. I'll get a big bag of o-rings. I nearly gave my one of these away as i didn't know what it was Zed kindly told me what it was and not to get rid. I had it fitted at the end of last year and my oil now gets up to operating temp quicker Now for my stupid question. I want to do an oil change and don't want to leave any old oil in the the pipes and cooler, which are on the other side of this thermostat thing. Do I just need to leave it to drain for much longer, so the oil in the pipes has chance to make its way back to the sump through the tiny permanent opening in the thermostat? Or is there a simpler way I want to get all the old oil out as I'm not sure what it is and want to put my usual valvoline vr1 back in

I have it in front of me and can see straight through both sides. When you start the engine the oil pressure operates it to block oil so just treat as two pipes, no need do anything special to drain it.

Engine will be out for gearbox hopefully before too long, I'll do it then. I just need to cut the pipes and fit it in but there will be a little oil spillage which I can't be arsed to deal with and dispose of at the marina. I have a couple of buckets of diesel contaminated water in my engine bilge to get rid of at the top of the list, you can't dump it in the canal.
