It's a crazy world, the market for whole ones hasn't looked great lately but the parts keep going skyward. I'll have to sell mine before something breaks.

He reckoned if you bought a running Beetle and sold the engine the rest of the car was profit. You just need a lot of space, some spanners and a web site. I had to give him £40 for a 65 Beetle opening 1/4light, I'd guess there was £1k profit in an average £500 car. As usual it's all about buying well. Mine - turnkey 2.4L engine, rebuilt 6-rib, rust free built up doors - there's £8-10k for starters. Wind out awning, 12v fridge, eber, wheels and tyres, dash and instruments, AFR, rev counter, seats, interior. Hmmm. when it comes to it I might have to break it.

I was amazed how the arse seems to have dropped out of bay and split prices, seen some fairly decent ones recently for way less than when I had mine, I definitely sold well. Whereas T5/6 prices are stupid for a shiny one.

That’s why I sold mine around 3 years ago, I could see it coming, the price of parts going up on some things like front arches making a medium sized job cost thousands was a big killer I think, greedy suppliers , T25 markets good though

I’ve always done a bit of wheeling and dealing but space and the cost of it near me has hampered it somewhat ( what would cost hundreds in Norfolk would cost thousands here, if you can even find land/ workshop space) my T25 is possibly triple in value as parts , temping if it fails an mot
