Anyone got any ideas on this?
I've replaced the filter in the reservoir & there are no obvious leaks. The moaning seems to be coming from the rack, rather than the pump, and is worse as you go from lock to lock.

Is the pump itself driven by an aux belt? If so is it possible the pump bearing is worn and transferring the sound to the rack?

yeah Rick the pump is driven by a belt. But it's in the engine bay, a long way from the rack? However, I will get Mrs Monkey to spin the wheel whilst I have a gander round the engine.
Perhaps the fluid needs changing but I know nada about power steering...

Oh yeah rear engine lol... Are all the pipes that transfer the fluid to the rack tight and secure?

haha you read the title as T5 didn't you...
I believe so. I'll have a grovel this week just to be sure. We're putting the bay away for the winter this weekend so will be relying on the T3 as our daily. Winter shows up all the defects.

Yep, I missed the "2" look on the bright side tho, it's easier to fault find. I'd pop the gaiters off the rack and have a nose at the seals etc while turning it, if your pipes are secure and the noise is deffo from the rack it can't be much else, doubt fluid would make a noise

It was the rubber bearing thing on top the shock wearing out.

Good call, jack the front up and see if there's a different/less noise with no weight on the wheels, spray the rubber mounts and see if it stops

Went out today & bought 2l of dexron 11 to do a fluid flush. Got the front of the bus up on stands & was just moving the steering from lock to lock & noticed the moaning was coming from the base of the column rather than the rack. There's a domed rubber cover that the column goes through & the noise was coming from this as the column rubbed against it! A bit of grease & all is good YAY!

If it's moaning when it's doing something, i.e. turning the wheels, it must be female. This is normal but I find a good welt on the top usually does the trick to quieten it down.
