Either I've gained 10psi, my sender is dodgy or the gauge is. Or some or all of those.
The gauge doesn't like settling back to zero.
The sender resistance should make the gauge show higher pressure than it actually does.
The restance at tickover, cold engine, indicates about 60psi, the gauge shows 50psi, both are too high or I really do have too much pressure.
So I thought I could buy a cheap mechanical gauge on ebay, get a T piece and fit it permanently to the engine. Anyone know about gauges? Do I need a particular type or will a water one from the plumbers merchant do the job?

All I know about gauges is they are never totally accurate. Probably why VW never installed them as standard.

Stuck pressure relief valve? Dodgy sender? Dodgy gauge? I dunno.
I had the gauge apart yesterday and cleaned out the resto dust and "excersised" the needle more in hope than expectation. No difference but it looks better so I cleaned the temp one too. 👍
