All going too well in the run up to going away tomorrow - clutch cable just snapped! Having internet trouble on the laptop and need to check the correct cable length for my van - LHD 1972 1700 engine original. I think it's one of the shorter lengths. Hope I can get at GSF today.

Measure the old one, even though it's broken it should become obvious which length it was. Your year bus assume nothing!👍 While you're taking it out, have a look at your bowden tube. Cheap part but I think two lengths should be available and maybe only the shorter available. It can be packed out with M12 (might be M14) washers tube side of bracket to get the S shape and make the correct cable fit. I expect you know the S shape makes the clutch less grabby and smooths the cable run. They usually break at the join between bowden tube and conduit near the rear torsion tube. Lucky it broke when it did rather than on the motorway on your hols, I should get myself a spare.

72 - 79 listed at 3215 mm but coolair list a shorter 71 - 73 at 3196. I think I bought that one last time, the other fits but not much adjustment available.
Anyway, took off the cover / arm before heading to GSF and found the cable intact but not connected any more. Pin must have broken, probably in there somewhere. GSF getting me a pin for 2 o'clock., will get a spare cable and also bring along a bolt as backup.

Working now, lighter than before. I had to clean out the bore on the pivot arm, maybe the clip broke off the old pin and it sat half way for a while. Fingers crossed.
