My Ford Galaxy has started to flatten its battery overnight.
It charges up OK but when the engine is switched off it shows a 15(!) Amp drain which seems a hell of a lot to me.
The battery is 5 years old and has been fine up until now.
Any ideas?

Well I now have the answer - the rear footwells doing an impersonation of a swimming pool due to water coming through the roof and down behind the pillar trim.
Seems like the loom doesn't like being submerged in water, who'd thought?

I used to moan about the price of Early T2 parts but no more;
Curtain airbags : £600 each
Seatbelt Pre-tensioners : £260 each
Left hand loom (part) : £1,100
etc., etc..
plus labour at dealer rates.
I think I prefer rust to electronics.

Not even going to try as seen too many tales of dodgy airbags and the garage it's in wouldn't fit them.
I wouldn't be surprised to see mine turn up on there at an attractive price.
We use it as a 'shuttlebus' to take the boys and their gear to and from uni where most of the 600 mile round trip is on the A1/M25/M4 and I'm not willing to take the risk.
The real pisser in this is that my youngest finishes in 2 weeks and it wouldn't be needed for that anymore after then - still I'd rather hire a MPV than have an airbag go off at 80+ on the motorway.
As the American's say "shit happens" and at least no one's been hurt.
It's probably just 'catching up' after a decade of being reliable and cheap to run and decided to go out with a bang - almost literally.

Well it's now scrap after 37,000 miles as it's uneconomical to repair even though the mechanicals and bodywork are in great condition.
Given that a lot of modern cars have even more electronics, like 'auto-braking','lane-assist' etc., I wonder how many will be scrapped 'early' due to some component being unavailable or just the cost of it? It cost us £500 just for a second-hand ECU for our 2003 Citroen C3 a few years ago.
I think that I'm beginning to appreciate the Luddites more.

A woman i worked with had a Honda of some sort (the type with the all electronic dash) and that got scrapped just because the dash went tits up.
