The added complication is that my mate the sprayer who was doing me a favour by organising this guy to get the van through the MOT feels bloody awful and responsible. Clearly not his fault but I have to tread carefully otherwise he will feel terrible! 😕 While you're rebuilding it you could make it better/ bigger. That's how my mind works anyway - all that effort to get to exactly where you were or a bit more and have something different at the end. Time and money are both an issue but a very good point Zed🤓

So been and had a look. Rear crank bearing has seized oil is milky! He was revving it to check timing on full advance when it happened. In hindsight I wonder if by just stop starting it over winter and keeping it in a garage has caused condensation in the sump and contaminated the oil? Either way resurface and new bearings and new oil pump just in case!

At least it’s s relatively cheap fix, condensation in the oil is a problem and it’s pretty certain that would have killed it, with a grind and a set of bearings it’s only a day or 2 to have it back on the road
