Hi was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good restorer, someoneone that will do a good job and possibly not rip me off. My partner and I purchased a few years ago and we have started it but in September last year he passed away.I was gonna get rid but it meant so much to us and I would like to get it finished to enjoy it with the grandchildren. I realise it might cost the earth but it's something I have to do. Thank you in advance. I'm in Lincolnshire but iv already been warned about one garage.

Not too far from you is his reverence popegregoryxi. Just the chap you describe though being that chap he's usually pretty busy I believe.

Sorry to hear about your partner.
Mine was done by Paul at Mid-Norfolk Aircooled in Swaffham, West Norfolk.
He did a terrific job but, as Zed says, the good ones like him and Popegregory are in great demand.
My personal view is that if you have to wait, say, six months before a good restorer can start then wait. It's a lot better than handing it over next week to someone who might bodge it, do a runner or whatever.
I wouldn't worry if the restorer is a distance away, mine was 50 miles each way, as you're not going to go there every day - I went about every 3 to 4 weeks to see how it was going and answer any questions he might have.
If you've got any more questions just ask - we've all started from knowing very little, or nothing in my case

Thankyou Zed and Chad for replying βΊ The pope is "Dubs and Classics" - Jason. We worked together for a year, he's very good and he certainly won't cheat you.

I can't recommend anyone near you, but i agree with waiting for someone who can do it right.
I paid a deposit and then waited about 18months before the people who restored mine started.
On the plus side it still looks good 15+ years later.
Speak to others and ask past customers what they think.
Plenty should be avoided, so wait for those who will do it right.

I had mine transported about 200 miles to have pope Gregory fiddle with it. But then i was on the cusp. Thumbs up from meπ
