Finally got rid of my crayons and paintspa and replaced with photoshop cs6. Really struggling with it. Anyone know any good books or online tutorials that would help me?

I've got a dual screen setup so I can have YouTube on one screen and my work on the other! I still have to keep rewinding the video tho 🙄

Photoshop is difficult until you work out how it expects you to think, then it's easy, if complicated. I learned and made my website on a 30 day trial.

Probably need to persevere until the penny eventually drops. I've been learning photoshop for the last ten years and YouTube is very useful. There is a series of videos made by the Adobe people themselves. There is no way anyone can just "learn" photoshop, it's far to big and complex, and there's always more than one way of doing everything. About all you can do is decide what you'd like to do first, i.e. Darken a sky or give someone two heads, and then search that on YouTube and copy the video. Dont accept the first video you come across though. I spent about an hour trying to follow a video on how to make a cloud shaped brush. Eventually I gave up on that bloke and searched for another video and found a way of doing it which was much simpler. I needed a cloud shaped brush for adding realistic mist on a graveyard shot with my granddaughter crawling out of the grave with bits of her skull showing through her skin. It was for a horror photograph competition, which I won. This . Is a good place for hundreds of useful "How to" videos from Adobe. (Edit: I've just had a look at how that link shows in the post and it's not what I meant but if you click the link you should get the you tube side bar showing lots of other ones from the same people but different aspects of Photoshop. Gosh, look at that, a huge long post with no swearing in it at all, it's just like I was still on TLB.

Looks like youtube is the way to go. I find it hard to learn this way but I'lljust have to be patient with it. I think i was trying to do to much, to soon and should start off with some easier operations just to get the hang of how it works and what everything does. I had been trying to seperate out parts of images then make them look like a cartoon image. Then seamlessly place these image parts onto other images that had had the same treatment. Probably a bit over my pay grade. My entry for the blunderbus logo will have to wait methinks. No swears.

I think your photoshop skills are perfect just as they are. They make me laugh anyway.

Layers, it's all about layers, selecting the right one and working on that. You are CAD friendly? If so you have a start point. I can't look at my demo copy to remind me as it ran out. But I disagree with Bob, you can teach yourself with a few basic hints. I did.

I find that hard to believe, you must have your own swear checker software at least? It's simply not possible otherwise, apparently...
